Elections Held Every Four to Five Years
WEB Elections in North Korea are held every four-to-five years for the Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), the country's national legislature, and every four years for Local People's Assemblies.
WEB Parliamentary elections were expected to be held in North Korea in 2024. 1 However, it is considered likely that they were delayed or canceled due to a lack of communication from the North Korean government.
WEB North Koreans are voting to elect the country's rubber-stamp parliament, the second such election since Kim Jong-un took power.
WEB Kim did not stand in 2019 elections for the Supreme People's Assembly, the country's rubber-stamp parliament, a first for a North Korean ruler. He was also reported by state media as not standing in the 2024 elections.
WEB Parliamentary elections were held in North Korea on 10 March 2019 to elect the members of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly. The elections were announced on 6 January 2019.
