Corey Dillon Inducted into Bengals Ring of Honor
Former Running Back to be Honored with Season-Ticket Holders Vote
Dillon's Induction Raises Question about Pro Football Hall of Fame Eligibility
Former running back Corey Dillon has been voted into the Bengals Ring of Honor by season-ticket holders. The announcement was made on Thursday, bringing to light Dillon's belief that he should also be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Dillon, now 49, says he is a different man than the young player who turned 26 the week he first joined the Bengals. He played for the team for 10 seasons before retiring in 2008.
Dillon's induction into the Ring of Honor has sparked renewed debate about his eligibility for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Dillon was a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, but he never led the NFL in rushing and only had one season with over 1,000 yards.
Dillon and former center Dave Krumrie will join Ken Anderson, Willie Anderson, Paul Brown, Boomer Esiason, Chad Johnson, and other Bengals legends in the Ring of Honor. The official ceremony will be held during the team's Week 3 game against the New York Jets.
